About the Academy’s Music Lessons

Private Lessons are offered for children and adult students at the beginning through advanced levels. Students at the Altadena Academy of Music and Arts, Pasadena's Premiere Music School, can choose from a range of styles including pop, jazz, rock, blues, and classical.

With private lessons, students can learn to play music that interests and motivates them. In addition, individualized instruction allows students to progress at their own pace and gain the best understanding of musical techniques and fundamentals, including music theory, ear training, and sight reading.

At the Altadena Academy of Music, students can begin lessons at any time of the year, as we allow rolling enrollment. For more information about lessons, please call us at (626) 296-0799. You may also conveniently register on our website by visiting the Registration page.

The tuition for weekly 30-minute private music lessons is $160 per month. 45-minute lessons are $240/month, and 60-minute lessons are $320/month. For more information, please contact us or call us at (626) 296‑0799.

In addition to in-person lessons at the Altaena Academy of Music, the Academy offers in-home lessons for our busiest families, as well as virtual 1:1 Music Lessons with our teachers via the Academy’s Meet@Academy award-winning platform. Contact us for more information about online music lessons!

About the Altadena Academy of Music & Arts

Since 2003, Altadena Academy of Music & Arts has been providing high-quality and affordable music lessons in Altadena, CA for children, teens, and adults. Our academy offers professional music instruction and performing arts classes for students of all ages in a welcoming studio environment. Over the years, more than 7,500 students from Altadena and nearby communities have taken lessons at our school, making us one of the most trusted private music schools in the area. We also offer scholarships and reduced tuition options to help students in need develop life skills, creativity, and confidence through music education.

Our music programs in Altadena are open to students as young as 5 years old as well as adult learners. We offer private lessons for a wide range of instruments including piano, guitar, voice, drums, violin, bass, ukulele, brass, woodwinds, and more. For added convenience, lessons are available at our Altadena music school on Lake Avenue, as well as through virtual lessons and in-home music lessons throughout Altadena and nearby cities such as Anaheim Hills, Yorba Linda, Eastvale, Norco, Lake Elsinore, and Riverside.

Students at Altadena Academy of Music & Arts also have the opportunity to participate in fun, supportive recitals and student performances throughout the year. These events allow students to share what they have learned with family, friends, and the community while building confidence on stage. Our student recitals are typically held four times per year: Spring (March), Summer (June), Fall (October), and Winter (December Holiday Recital), and we encourage all students to take part in these exciting musical

Frequently Asked Questions About Music Lessons

That question is often asked by prospective students. Our teachers make it a priority to get to know you on a personal level and to become familiar with your personal musical needs and goals.

We do not treat every student the same in terms of what and how we teach.

A seven‑year‑old having their first guitar lesson will have very different needs than a 57‑year‑old taking up piano for the 2nd time after having had lessons as a child.

The main reason to choose Altadena Academy of Music as your music lesson provider is that we are sensitive to the fact that every student is an individual.

If you enroll here for lessons, we will work with you to make a plan that will fit your needs and musical preferences. At the first lesson, your teacher will ask you about your favorite type of music and set goals to help accomplish whatever musical aspirations you have for yourself or your child.
